IDENTITY

We are a Christian church in South Austin. Our community is a diverse group of ordinary people who identify as, "A family of Jesus-followers, empowered by the Spirit to make disciples in all of life for the glory of God". To put this more simply...

We are a FAMILY of DISCIPLES on MISSION.

FAMILY means we seek to provide care and encouragement for one another. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
DISCIPLES means we are Jesus-followers, growing in the good news that we are loved by God, saved by Jesus and empowered by His Spirit. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
MISSION means that we all have a purpose to make more disciples by pointing others to Jesus. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Our community is not exclusive, so wherever you may be spiritually, we invite you to join us. If you have doubts, struggles or questions, you will not be alone. We are imperfect people, but thankfully we believe in a perfect God.

CALLING

We believe that every Christ follower is an equal co-heir - meaning that we all have received God's grace and calling on our lives. God's call is to be disciples and to participate in making disciples. The leaders of Point Community Church are not the only ones with this calling, rather, every member of the congregation shares in this responsibility. To find out more about this call to discipleship please click here.

CONTEXTS

We are the church in all of life (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) - not just on Sunday mornings. As a community we have two primary contexts where we endeavor to embrace this 'all of life' identity and calling:

  • Worship Gathering
When the entire body gathers, usually on a Sunday morning, to...

  • Life Groups
    Life Groups

PARTNERSHIP

The local church was not created to operate in isolation. Our heart is to see the good news about Jesus impact our city and the world - we cannot accomplish this alone. We have many friends (individuals and churches) that we are linked with here in the Austin area and globally.  The strongest partnership we have is a church collective called the Association of Hill Country Churches that is committed to reaching every man, woman, and child in Greater Austin with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ.

Other organizations we partner with include:

CHURCH PLANTING

We strongly believe that church planting (starting new churches) can be a powerful tool for multiplying followers of Jesus.  Our church family comes from a lineage of church plants.  We desire to continue, as God leads, to be a platform for launching new churches.

VERSION TWO

IDENTITY
We are a Christian church in South Austin. We believe that hope, meaning and purpose are ultimately found in Jesus. We are a diverse group of ordinary people who describe ourselves as, "A family of Jesus-followers, empowered by the Spirit to make disciples in all of life for the glory of God". At a fundamental level, this simply means that we exist to worship God. We desire to collectively grow in:

  • GOSPEL - Knowledge and worship of God
  • COMMUNITY - Providing care and encouragement for one another
  • MISSION - Engagement in making disciples (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • We are JESUS-FOLLOWERS - Growing in the good news that we are loved by God the Father, saved by His Son Jesus and empowered by His Spirit (scripture...)
  • We are POINTING - Engaging in the mission of making disciples

Our community is not exclusive, and wherever you may be spiritually, we invite you to join us. If you have doubts, struggles or questions, you will not be alone. We are not perfect, but thankfully God is capable and gracious as He redeems the imperfections in us individually and in our church family.

Point Community exists to multiply disciples and therefore is a committed to planting (starting) churches as a way of accomplishing this mission.  that was planted (started) by a church in Round Rock which itself was initiated by a church in Pflugerville which in turn was launched by a church in northwest Austin.

We are learning to live out the ways of Jesus together and we are passionate about helping others experience life in Him as well. Without a doubt, we are a work in progress. Thankfully, God is very capable of dealing with imperfect people who realize their need for change.

    VISION
As God works in us individually and collectively, our desire is that every man, woman, and child beginning in South Austin and extending around the world would experience the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ because they have repeated opportunities to hear the good news about Him from our lips and see it through our lives.

    VALUES
We have three primary values that drive us: Love, Truth, and Mission. Jesus embodied these when He walked the earth, and we seek to follow His example.

    • Love- Jesus said that loving God and loving people is the most important thing we can do. (Mark 12:30-31)
    • Truth- The Scriptures are true and we look to them to understand who God is, who we are, and how life is designed to work. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
    • Mission- Jesus gave us a mission to go and make disciples of all nations. (Matthew 28:19-20)

You can listen to a message about these three values here:

    STRATEGY
As a local church, we are connected to a church collective called the Association of Hill Country Churches that is committed to reaching every man, woman, and child in Greater Austin with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ. To accomplish this vision, we focus on three primary activities corporately:

    1.  Personal discipleship. As we said above, Jesus instructed us to go make disciples of all nations. We work strategically and intentionally to help people learn how to trust in, and live like Jesus.

    2. Planting Gospel-centered churches. We are a church plant and are involved in helping plant other churches. Here are are some of the churches that we have supported:

    3. Partnering with like-minded organizations and local churches. Here are a few of the organizations we partner with currently:
