Read this Scripture:
Psalm 102:27 - But You are the same, and Your years will never end.
Read this Thought:
It is a beautiful reality that God is unchanging. This means that He is always consistent - always dependable. God isn’t going to act a certain way one day and a different way the next. He is consistent because He is unchanging.
This is one way that God is very different from us - we change all the time. We get older. We learn new things. We like something one day and yet soon afterward we decide that we don’t. We are very changeable.
Imagine that you were governed by a king who calls you in and commands you to go and manage his crops. You start working hard to do that, but a week or so later the king calls you back in and commands you to take care of his livestock and stables. A little frustrated, you leave and start working hard to do that new task. However, just a week later, the king calls you back and commands you to oversee his kitchen. You politely ask why, and the only response you get is that the king simply changed his mind.
Thankfully, this is not at all what God is like. He is a good, perfect, loving and unchanging King. He is dependable and faithful which means that we can fully trust Him.
Do this Activity:
Go outside and find a flower or a tree. Talk about how it changes. Then talk about how God - the creator of these changing things - does not change. He is always the same.
Discuss this Question:
God is unchangeable even in His promises. How do you see this in the Christmas story?
